Remembering older writing – May 2022

There is a weekly coffee klatch in a nearby town on Thursday mornings where we talk about all sorts of things. Someone mentioned that it was three year’s since her father’s death and she was thinking about him. I suddenly remembered my journal-book, Remembering Our Fathers: Opportunity for Recollection and Reflection.  I wrote this after my father died twenty years ago, as part of my own grieving process.

I brought her a copy that she intended to go through with her brother. A friend mentioned that while I was recovering from hip surgery, so not attending the Thursday morning coffee klatch, she brought in the journal. Her comments made another friend order a copy.

It is very nice when something that I wrote years ago helps someone. I’m in the nice position where I’m not trying to make money from my writing, other than the technical writing I do for Fermilab. I mainly just want the non-fiction stuff to be useful and the fiction stuff to be uplifting.
