For a while, I haven’t had the oomph to tackle first draft writing. I have a number of projects that I can polish, or tear apart and rewrite, but I also have ideas for book six in my French series. Luckily, I discovered that I was missing a scene in book five as I was revising it. By the time I had crafted that scene, I was back enjoying writing new stuff. So I’m tackling book six.
Part of what made it difficult was that one of my main characters was in Cleveland and Chicago at the beginning of the novel. But it’s ‘the French series’ so I didn’t want her to spend too many pages there. Except, to have the character conflict and growth that I wanted, I needed her to be in Cleveland and Chicago. Luckily the other main character is in Paris with a newborn and moving to a new apartment. And the American will be returning to Paris about a third of the way through the novel. My attempts to keep her time in the States to a minimum is what was making it so difficult to work on the novel. So, lovely Cleveland gets its time in the sun.
